FAQ’S

WHY USING A FOOD WASTE DISPOSER CAN BE BETTER THAN THROWING FOOD INTO A BIN?

When you turn on the disposer, a spinning disc, or impeller plate, turns rapidly, forcing the food waste against the outer wall of the grinding chamber. This pulverizes the food into tiny bits, which then gets washed with the water thereby flushing the pulverized food pulps down the drain.

With the use of disposers we are limiting the amount of wet waste going to landfills that can cause release of methane gas.

CAN YOU USE HOT WATER?

Using hot water will damage the seal kit, allowing water go into the motor.

WHAT IS AN AIR SWITCH?

An air switch is the alternative activation type instead of a traditional “on/off” switch.  It uses air pressure instead of electricity to operate the unit.  It can be installed on top of the sink or in the side of a cabinet for easy reaching.

WHAT TYPES OF FOOD WASTE CAN BE PLACED IN A FOOD DISPOSER?

Food waste such as (fruit & vegetable peels, left overs, wet food waste, pizza, nut shells, small chicken bones, etc) can be placed into a disposer. Always run an ample amount of water when running your disposal unit.

Items that you SHOULD NOT put down your disposal include large whole bones, clam shells, oyster shells, whole corn husks, glass, plastic, bottle caps, tin, aluminium foil, utensils, caustic drain cleaner, hot grease, or other hot liquids.

CAN YOU INSTALL A DISPOSER?

Yes, using an instruction manual and you can watch our installation videos.

WHAT SIZE SINK HOLE WILL THESE DISPOSALS INSTALL INTO?

A disposer can fit into any standard sized sink hole typically said to be 90 millimetres.

RESETTING YOUR DISPOSER?

Should your unit overheat, you can reset the disposer by using the reset button (small red button on the front of the disposer) press it once. Push the button in until it clicks and remains depressed to reconnect its operation.

SAFETY USE AND PRECAUTIONS?

All disposers have a splash guard, this should always be in place when in use and closed with the stopper. In the event/case you accidentally drop cutlery in the disposer, you can remove the splash guard and put your hand to remove any cutlery. UNIT MUST BE SWITCHED OFF WHEN DOING THIS!

HOW DO I CLEAN A DOMESTIC DISPOSER?

Sprinkle half a cup of baking soda into the drain and pour white vinegar on top. After the fizzing finishes, leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing with water while the disposal blades are running.

Cut a lemon into pieces, 4 (four) ice blocks throw these into the disposer and  then switch on the disposer with tap water to help give it a fresh smell.
